Knocked Up

KNOCKED UP
How much do I despise this chickenshit ode to conservative values? This admittedly funny, yet risible and ultimately irresponsible fantasy that having a baby makes problems go bye-bye? A movie so afraid of offending middle America that it doesn’t use the word abortion ONCE? With every fiber of my being.

Okay. I held off on comment because, well, I hadn't seen this yet. It was on HBO On Demand, so I just did.

Sigh.

It's awful when you feel betrayed by friends, even ones you don't know personally. I love "Freaks and Geeks" and "Undeclared". I even liked "40 Year Old Virgin" (in spite of the fact that its message was: abandon who you are and conform to societal norms). But this movie just made me kind of sad.

Even you, who despised this flick, said, "admittedly funny". But it isn't. I cracked a smile maybe three times, all courtesy of supporting characters. The roommates. The Korean Ob-Gyn doctor. It wasn't funny at all. It was false, often shrill, more often dull and all-over a dud. Fuck this movie. I think Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Martin Starr, Jay Baruchel and Jonah Hill are great comic performers. They deserved better than an overly long conservative TV-movie. This was a fucking Lifetime effort.

I want my 2+ hours back.
